Speed reading

 

Overview

This very practical course will teach you speed reading skills that help you read faster while still maintaining comprehension. You will understand the theories behind the process, such as brain-eye co-ordination. Your reading speed is initially assessed and then, applying different techniques, calculated again so you can identify the processes that really work to suit your needs. You will find a noticeable improvement during the day.

  • Demonstrate visual techniques that increase brain/eye coordination
  • Assess documents content efficiently and effectively prior to reading

This is for anyone who feels the pressure of time when faced with a great deal of reading material to absorb. The need to stay up to date in your knowledge and skills is vital for your business and your personal confidence levels. Increasing your reading speed will help you to achieve all of these and much more.

This is a very participative day. It will take the delegate on a journey to discover their inner ability to read and understand at a faster rate.

The expert trainer

Melanie is an experienced and creative personal development trainer and group facilitator whose methods and style of delivery empower individuals and groups to realise their potential. She is a skilled team worker, leader and effective manager who enjoys the challenge and responsibility of working for the development of others.

Melanie has been involved with developing people for over 25 years. She set up her training and consultancy business in 1995. Her specialist areas of training are the personal development skills which involve managing ourselves, managing others or being managed. Melanie works extensively across the three sectors; public, private and not-for-profit and at all levels within organisations from the front line to the board room.

Trained initially as a Youth and Community Worker, She has extensive experience of managing groups and individuals that enables their learning and development. Her own development has included an Advanced Professional Diploma in Consultancy Practice, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education for adult training, Life Coaching certificates, NLP Practitioner certificate and a Level 5 Diploma in Learning and Development through TAP (Trainer Assessment Programme) with The Training Foundation.

Course outline

Delegates should preferably bring sufficient reading material typical of their own work to allow for at least two hours of reading at their current speed. Other useful reading material will be provided if this is not possible.
