Overview

Employment law in the UK is constantly changing and becoming ever more complex. In order to manage people effectively, and to reduce the risk of claims to employment tribunals, managers need to have a practical understanding of employment law and best practice. This is becoming increasingly important as HR departments take on a more strategic role and devolve more responsibility to management as well as in smaller organisations which are not supported by a separate HR function.

This workshop takes a practical approach to many of the issues that might challenge you in your role as a manager (or employer). It will give you a solid foundation in key areas of employment law and a knowledge of ‘best practice’. You will get practical guidance on handling people management issues proactively and effectively.

Audience

This programme will benefit line managers at all levels. Those new to the role will value it as an introduction to employment law, whilst those with more experience will see it as a very useful refresher on a constantly changing topic.

Participants in this highly practical one-day workshop are encouraged to take a pro-active approach, in small team discussions, case studies and practical exercises.

The expert trainer

Rosanne, who has over twenty years’ experience working in Human Resources as an HR Manager, a trainer and a coach, is passionate about helping organisations and individuals reach their full potential. She has substantial experience of training and development at all stages, including training needs analysis, designing and delivering training interventions and training evaluation against business outcomes and performance. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a Business Practitioner in NLP and with a background in Transactional Analysis, Rosanne is also a qualified coach through the Coaches Training Institute and has recently graduated from the Solutions Focus Professional Training programme.

Rosanne has worked as the lead HR associate trainer with The In-House Training Company ever since its formation in 2006 and in that time has delivered an outstanding service to a range of clients, including Stevenage Leisure, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council, Johnson Matthey, Cambridgeshire NHS Trust, Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, Central Borders Housing, Hertfordshire County Council, RIAS Insurance, Arvato Loyalty, Personal Group, Grant Thornton, etc.
